Experience
I serve currently as Dean of Online Studies
for the Sullivan
University System, Kentucky's largest private university. I
oversee academic and technology functions of Sullivan's Global e-Learning Campus
that provides over 400 online and blended courses, 19 online degree
programs and 5 online certificate programs for over 3,000 students.
During the past 22 years in the field of
instructional technology and distance learning, I have taught at the middle
school, high school, community college and university levels and have
served at all levels in my chosen field (teacher, trainer, staff developer,
multimedia developer, instructional designer and manager). I have taught
face-to-face, blended and fully online courses, have helped other
colleagues create and teach online courses, and have developed a regionally
accredited online masters degree program. Before coming to Sullivan, I was
Coordinator of
Learning Technologies at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago IL. and
Coordinator of Educational Technology at College of the Desert, Palm
Desert, CA. I have also taught for California State University-San
Bernardino, La Sierra University, Rio Salado College and Brigham Young
University.
I am very grateful to have had the
opportunity to serve my professional community in a number of leadership
positions. These include President of the Division of Distance
Learning for the Association for Educational
Communications and Technology (AECT), President of the Community
College Association for Instruction and Technology, Vice President
of Cahuilla Computer Using Educators, Inc., member of advisory boards of the LAS
School Foundation, Nauvoo University and Spencerian College, and the
editorial boards of the Midwest Journal of Educational Communications &
Technology and the Quarterly Review of Distance Education. I serve
currently as the Distance Learning representative to the AECT Executive
Board.
In addition, I have performed outside
technology training, multimedia/ instructional development, website
development, research and other consultation services. It has
been my privilege to be able to work as a consultant/contractor to Fortune 500
corporations, government agencies, the U.S. Military, small businesses,
law enforcement agencies, community organizations, K-12 schools, colleges
and universities.

Personal
Now comes the important information: I am
very happily married to Teresa, my bride of over two decades. Our lives have
been blessed abundantly by four daughters: Heather, Kellie,
Lisa and Emily and by the recent adoption of our Serena
and Alex.
In my "spare" time, I enjoy playing guitar,
bass or drums (my family is wonderfully indulgent) and
singing with my golden-throated wife and children.
